American poet Sylvia Plath, was born in 1932 in Boston.
Literary critics consider her one of the most influential female writers of all time.
Her poetry is dominated by a kind of obsession with the theme of death, where dying is like an art.
In 1956, Plath met Ted Hughes, a British poet whom she would marry, and with whom she would have two children.
Her depression and suicidal tendencies intensified when Sylvia discovered her husband's infidelity, and all of this would lead to her suicide, which she so often explored in her poetry.
Shortly before her death, Plath wrote the novel Bell Jar under a pseudonym.
