There's a burglar alarm
just gone off at some store
to blend with the sirens
of the city patrol.
in the howling of cats
that are having a ball
while someone is listening
to Mozart next door.

So wish me good night
as I switch off the light
in emerge in a sweet city lullaby.

In the house to the right
there's a party tonight;
They've opened the windows
to let the noise out.
But somehow it softens
the sounds of a row
that rocks the floor boards
of the flat up above.
