I am just a passer-by on earth,
So wave your happy hand to me.
The autumn moon has such a light
Of mild tranquillity.
For the first time I warm myself
At the moon, glow from the cold.
Again I live, and live in hope
Of love which I have never known.
Our lowland flatness brought this on,
Salted by the whiteness of sand,
And someone's tousled innocence,
And someone's native despair.
I will not hide forever, then,
That love is not a thing apart.
One love together shared brought us
This country of the heart.
